ELL Information and Registration Form

​​Dickinsfield Amity House offers three ELL classes.  Each meets for two hours, and once a week. 
​Classes meet in two different Edmonton Public Libraries.

ELL Program Details:

  • Free: The programs are free (no cost).
  • Child Care: There is no child care provided.
  • Attendance: Students are expected to attend regularly after they are accepted into the program. They can discontinue or start  the program (if there is space) at anytime. If they discontinue the program, they are expected to let the teachers know.
  • Class Size: Being accepted into a class is dependent on space being available.  During January, 2018 through June, 2018 all classes were full, so it is important to register as soon as possible, as space is limited.  Students will not be accepted into the program if the class is full.  They can register and be placed on a waiting list.
  • Skill Level: The students come from all over the world, and their skill levels vary. Skill level of each class will depend on the level of students attending.  In some cases, we may recommend students seek alternative classes if their skill level is below or above that of most of the students attending.
  • How we spend time in Class: We usually have a time for sharing so we learn to speak English, then a time of learning new set of words around a particular topic, and then a time in groups in which we read something about the words (or work on a crossword puzzle of the words).
  •  Funding of the ELL Classes: The English Language Learners Program is sponsored by the Edmonton Community Adult Learning Association and Government of Alberta.
